Smurf Heaven Australian Collectors Club The British Smurf Collectors Club
Smurf Heaven Australian Collectors Club
Welcome to the SMURF HEAVEN collectors club ! We all came to the realisation that in order to further any of our Smurf Collections we had to look overseas. There was nowhere in Australia where we could buy Smurfs and everyone we had found to swap with only had the same ones we already had. The real problems came when we found out the prices of overseas bank charges and postal costs. We still believe that it would be a lot easier if the petrol stations would bring back our little blue friends.
Since this is not the case, and we may have to live to be Papa Smurf's age before that happens, we decided to do something about it.
Now you have the chance to buy Smurfs in Australia through us and hopefully we can also trade to overseas the different variations that we can get over here for the ones they can get over there.

One piece of Trivia from the Smurfenclub: What are the parking police in Belgium called? Answer: Of course Smurfs, because of their blue caps. The blue caps are no longer there, but the name stuck.

Buffalo Road Imports (BRI)
Looking for a Smurfy place to shop? Try Buffalo Road Hobby Imports ("BRI"). BRI has been in business for over 18 years, since 1978, and has been providing homes to Smurfs for over 12 years. The retail shop in Clarence, NY, has been entertaining customers since 1991.
BRI is a small family-operated business. The Smurfs were introduced to the family by the youngest daughter, who was an avid fan of the Smurfs. She had started collecting the Smurfs soon after they appeared in the US. As family and friends purchased Smurfs for her, she acquired numerous extras which her mother would sell for her at toy shows alongside the models of toy vehicles the family sold. Before the Smurfs arrived, die-cast models of cars and trucks were the only toys sold by BRI. The Smurfs were popular at toy shows because the little blue fellows (and Smurfette) were often the only appealing toys at such shows for girls and boys who didn't care for vehicles.
Several years later when the Smurfs started to lose their mass appeal, a local candy store advertised their entire inventory for sale during their summer sidewalk sale. After a small family conference, involving mostly the women (by now both the mother and older sister were Smurf fans too), the Smurfs were purchased. The Smurfs were taken home and eagerly examined. Quickly it was noticed that the "same" figure sometimes had his or her clothes or accessories painted a different color and that the figures were made in several different countries. Of course, one of each had to be saved for the collection. The next several months of that summer were spent in a blue heaven, examining and sorting all the Smurfs. The first BRI Smurf list was created, with each figure carefully described in detail, with color variations, the country the figure was made in, and even the licensing markings (i.e. Peyo, Schleich, Wallace Berrie) noted. That fall the Smurfs and the list were taken to toy shows and BRI was officially in the Smurf business! Needless to say, Smurf collectors really appreciated the sales list and the selection of Smurf figures. Names of collectors were taken promising to send new lists as more figures for sale were available; thus began BRI's mail-order Smurf business.
A trip to Europe by a friend who brought back new, "Wow, I've never seen these Smurfs before" figures, also brought the news that new Smurfs were still being made in Germany by Schleich. A flurry of correspondence and another family conference later, the first Smurfs were ordered from Schleich. BRI has been booking passage for the Smurfs to come to the US for over a decade now. Not only were the Smurfs invited over, but their cottages and playsets were brought along too. To share company with the Smurfs, other character figures were acquired; these included the Snorks, Gummi Bears and the Muppets. As these Smurf friends were popular too, BRI's pvc business was started. BRI is now the temporary home of thousands of character figures from over 200 different character "families", from more than 8 countries, all thanks to the Smurfs!
Today, BRI is offering countless other smurfy items from Smurf pins, mugs, jewelry and other small Smurfy toys to a great big child's ride-in Smurf race car or the giant 3' Papa Smurf to Smurf strollers, wall clocks, and lunch boxes with thermoses.

The British Smurf Collectors Club
Irene and Terry Anderson were the original distributors of Smurfs in the U.K. from 1979 - 1984. Last year they were asked by Peyo's family to re-introduce them to the U.K., so they founded The British Smurf Collectors Club. Anyone can join the club who is a Smurf Collector.
The objectives of the British Smurf Collectors Club are:
to provide information to smurf collectors on the current availability of particular Smurf designs to enable collectors to create new collections or complete their existing collections;to provide advance information on all new! planned smurf designs prior to their release;
to provide a direct source of supply by post for the current 1998 range of newly released smurf products being reintroduced to the British market as illustrated in the collectors booklet;
to provide a source of supply for "smurf classics", these are "original" Smurf figurines or Super Smurf designs.
There are many benefits of being a member of the British Smurf Collectors Club, for example "Special Offers" and collectors booklets. Also you will be up-to-date about smurfy news from the European market.
